A Chief Operating Officer (COO) is second-in-command immediately after the Senior Pastor, reports directly to the Senior Pastor, and acts on the Senior Pastors behalf in their absence. The COO will be a strategic thought-and support partner for the Senior Pastor.  The COO oversees the Church’s daily business operations and administrative services and will foster growth among the executive team and all employees.

Responsibilities:

  • Will be a strategic thought-and support partner for the Senior Pastor.
  • Works closely with the Senior Pastor to set and drive the Church’s vision, mission, key strategies, and required hiring needs.
  • Works closely with the Senior Pastor, administrative and pastoral team to create, implement, and roll out plans for operational processes, internal controls, reporting systems, and administrative procedures, all of which are intended to foster consistency and efficiencies for the Church.
  • Drives the development and implementation of growth strategies for new and existing Church initiatives, such as: new church campus, multiple occupancy housing development project, 3-year Church strategic plan, etc.
  • Will provide strategic direction, supervision, performance management conferencing, corrective action recommendations, and performance reviews for Administrative Services Manager and Financial Services Manager.
  • Foster a positive, encouraging, and spiritually inspiring environment while keeping employees accountable to Church policies, procedures, and performance expectations.
  • Ensures that suitable metrics are in place to measure performance and progress for all departments.
  • Provides strategic direction and support to the Executive Board.
  • Will work in partnership with Administrative Services Manager on the review, negotiation of all leases or contracts that encumber the Church for more than a 24-month period. Employee benefit contracts will be jointly reviewed with the COO annually.
  • Will work in partnership with the Financial Services Manager on scheduling and outlining the preparation and completion of the Church’s annual budget.
  • Will work in partnership with Financial Services Manager in preparing for the annual audit process and will serve as a liaison with external auditors and the finance committee of the Executive Board.
  • Will work in partnership with the Financial Services Manager on legal matters that expose the Church to excessive risk.

Education:

Candidate should have a bachelor’s degree or higher academic certification in business, economics, finance, or a related discipline. Candidates with a Master of Business Administration, or MBA, are an asset.

Qualifications and Experience:

Five or more years of experience in executive leadership roles. Understanding of business functions such as HR, Finance, fundraising, marketing etc. Excellent leadership skills, with steadfast resolve and personal integrity. Understanding of advanced business planning and regulatory issues. Demonstrable competency in strategic planning and business development. Solid grasp of data analysis and performance metrics. Ability to diagnose problems quickly, foresee potential issues, and do contingency plans.

The Financial Services Manager will be a strategic thought-and support partner for the COO. The Financial Services Manager position will lead and develop an internal team to support the following areas: finance, business planning and budgeting, legal and audit services, IT, and insurance coverages.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures and reviews monthly financial statements from the accountant staff and financial service consultants and prepare monthly financial performance results with a corresponding narrative report for the review by the COO, Senior Pastor, and any determined governing body.

  • Manages bank accounts and monitors reconciliations, transactions including wire transfers, credit cards, renewal of Certificates of Deposit, and keeping track of signing authorities.
  • Preparation of cash flow projections and ensure adequate funding.
  • Establish and manage a reserve fund to support and provide for the Church’s financial health and growth.
  • Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors and the finance committee of the board of directors; assess any changes necessary.
  • Prepares documents and schedules for annual audit and liaises with auditors.
  • Managing all tax and other required filings.
  • Maintaining banking relationships.
  • Oversee and monitor all insurance policies.
  • Develops and monitors the performance of the capital budget and investment funds.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in business, accounting, or related field. Five or more years of experience as a senior level accounting or finance manager. Preferred CPA

Qualification and Experience:

Ten or more years of professional accounting experience. Strong understanding of banking processes and financial data analysis. Working knowledge of national and local tax regulations and compliance reporting. Experience in managing payroll, with focus on streamlining accounting processes. The Administrative Services Manager will be a strategic thought-and support partner for the COO.  The Administrative Services Manager directs the planning, development, implementation, and administration of business operations, which may include human resources, security, procurement and contract administration, building, grounds, and property maintenance, and special events.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides strategic direction for the Human Resources Department and provides input for internal controls related to employee policy handbook, employee performance review process, recruitment, retention, and new employee orientation program.
  • Provide strategic direction, support, and successful implementation of media and marketing functions, such as: ministry website, social media presence, brochures, pamphlets, fliers, videos, etc. to promote ministry events and services.
  • Oversees vendor relations for all acquisition and leasing of administrative office equipment (computer, printers, copiers, etc.) and other maintenance equipment, and purchasing and vendor contact.
  • Will work in partnership with the COO on the review, negotiation of all leases or contracts that encumber the Church for more than a 24-month period, as well as employee benefit contracts.
  • Serve as liaison with the COO, architects, construction managers, and contractors for campus construction projects.
  • Monitor foreseeable security risks and will maintain emergency and security plans, including emergency preparedness evacuations, and strategies for interruptions in business operations.
  • Ensuring the ongoing safety, serviceability, and cleanliness of church grounds, and property.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field required. Five years of experience in administration, including three years in a supervisory capacity, required.

The Ministry Services Manager/Pastor of Ministry will be a strategic thought-and support partner for the Senior Pastor.  The Ministry Services Manager/Pastor of Ministry is responsible for overseeing in collaboration with the Senior Pastor strategic direction for the various ministry programs of the Bayview Church. The position will support and supervise a team of Purpose Pastors who perform specialized tasks related to various ministries that support the Senior Pastor’s vision and the Church’s mission.

Responsibilities:

  • Will be a strategic thought-and support partner for the Senior Pastor.
  • Works closely with the Senior Pastor to set and implement the vision and strategic direction for the Church’s ministry.
  • Provide strategic direction and support for Purpose Pastors to ensure successful execution of their ministry initiatives.
  • Coordinates with Senior Pastor and other members of the ministry staff to ensure that all aspects of the ministry are running smoothly and that there is an engagement and seamless interface with THRIVE.
  • Will be required to preach on any given Sunday at Senior Pastor’s request, may be asked to teach biblical education courses, and perform pastoral care duties.
  • Coordinate and ensure responsive scheduling for services such as: baptisms, weddings, and funerals.
  • Oversees the Ministry Purpose and the development of new initiatives that help support the growth and success of the Church.
  • Develop and put forward innovative initiatives that educate and support options for encouraging giving to the church.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in theological preferred but not required, equivalent theological training will be considered.
