Bayview Disaster Relief (BDR) Ministry
The Bayview Disaster Relief Committee was established in October 2005 following the devastating impact of Hurricane’s Katrina and Rita.
Recognizing the gravity of these tragic events, the Bayview church immediately responded by providing over $20,000 to assist in the recovery efforts in the gulf region. Shortly thereafter, the Bayview Disaster Relief (BDR) Fund was established to continue to address the various needs of persons affected by the hurricanes, as well as other natural disasters that could occur in the future.
Since its inception, BDR has provided hardship grants to Bayview family members living in the gulf region, as well as displaced evacuees temporarily residing in San Diego. Thanks to the generosity of the Bayview church, over $10,000 in monetary support has been distributed to evacuees, covering more than 50 households.
Looking forward, BDR has currently shifted its’ focus from “Emergency Relief” to a broader goal of preparing the Bayview Church in the area of “Emergency Response.” This will include, emergency evacuation and administering disaster-related services necessary in the event of a local emergency.
